Grilled & smoked meats cooked over charcoal
Mezze from the East, music from the West
Beer by the growler, cocktails, pickles & pita
We take inspiration from pretty much anywhere we can find it, but with a bias towards the ingredients and flavours of the Middle East, North Africa and across the Ottoman.
Whilst our cuisine stays true to the food from these regions, we also pull from more familiar Western cooking techniques in the execution of what we do. We grill over charcoal using a beast of a mangal handcrafted by the boys at Clay Oven Company (you should see their hands). We smoke some of our meats first because, let's face it everything tastes better once it's been smoked.
2016 – Year of the Monkey; Craig David; and Berber & Q’s Arabian One Night Stand New Years Eve Party.
Forget the overcrowded parties charging you triple to get in, leaving you stranded in the middle of nowhere with no means of getting home. That was so 2015.
Our NYE celebratory tasting menu will be a banquet fit for a king and his mistress, spread across the entire table for shared feasting. The meal will start with oysters and grilled merguez, followed by a selection of our favourite mezze to include blackened baba ghanoush, Delica squash tahini, grilled marinated peppers and labneh with green chilli and dill. Our fish course combines our love for American soul food and Middle Eastern ingredients. We’ve always wanted to cook our version of a crayfish boil, and this party seemed like the perfect opportunity to do so. Accompanying the crayfish will be whole crab, prawns and mackerel tails served with a crab bisque tahini – all to be eaten, as it should be, with your hands. For our main course there will be honey and cardamom-glazed rotisserie duck with date and smoked dripping gravy and beetroot toum. Our dessert, a tribute to a classic French dish reserved only for special occasions, will be a saffron-glazed pistachio croquembouche tower presented directly on the table filled with sparklers (because it’s New Years Eve and the only night of the year we can get away with such OTT 1980s ridiculousness).
To quote one of our all time favourite philosophers, The Shamen;
"Naughty, naughty, very naughty"
